A 16-year-old Chinese orphan, Mei Mei, dreams of nothing more than being part of a “perfect” family. When her orphanage travels to Australia to partake in The Australian Choir Festival at the Sydney Opera House, Mei Mei takes the opportunity to find her Australian sponsor Dean Randall. However what she finds is far from what he depicted in the 33 postcards he has sent her since he started the child sponsorship when she was 3 years old. Initially mismatched and disconnected, the two begin a journey in search of belonging, family, redemption, love and acceptance.
